Cycling is simply the best way to explore Warrnambool and surrounds!
This gorgeous destination along the Great Ocean Road is home to some of Victoria’s best bike and walking tracks, suitable for all ages and abilities. Warrnambool’s natural wonders, heritage sites, parks and beaches are all accessible by a network of trails. Here are some of our favourites:
Linking the historic breakwater to Logans beach, this sealed pathway has great views as it winds around Lady Bay, crosses the mouth of the Hopkins River estuary and ending at the Logans Beach whale nursery.
For kids, you just can’t go past the Lake Pertobe Avenue. Have a BBQ picnic or check out the tennis facilities, while the kids go crazy on the giant slides, flying foxes, maze and boat rides.
CBD Heritage Trail
For a dose of history, a gentle stroll or cycle around the 3km Warrnambool town centre is a must, to see beautiful churches, shop fronts and hotels dating back to the 1850s.
This challenging trail holds the intrigue and mystery of a Portuguese caravel believed to be shipwrecked off the coast between Warrnambool and Port Fairy in the early 1500s. Named the ‘Mahogany Ship’, the wreckage has mysteriously disappeared and many believe it has sunken to the watery depths along this stretch of coastline.
