Historic Como House and Garden

A historic hidden treasure in the suburbs of South Yarra.

Overlooking the Yarra River, Como House stands on the corner of Williams Road and Lechlade Avenue in South Yarra, just a 10 minute drive from Rejuvenat Stays’ two stunning Richmond properties, The Richmond Club and Richmond Vibe.

A popular venue for weddings and events, the house was built in 1847 and was home to generations of the high society Armytage family for nearly 100 years. Extremely well preserved, the house opens to the public for tours on specified weekends allowing visitors to view the elegant dining and reception rooms that are still furnished with Armytage family heirlooms. Even the servant’s areas, kitchen and laundry have been preserved, capturing an important period of Australian history from the Gold Rush era through two World Wars.

The beautiful established gardens are open to the public free of charge, for a short stroll or a sunny picnic. Be sure to indulge in tea and scones at the Stables of Como cafe.
